| 20 Feb, 2026 | Water | The new Ngoi-Ngoi Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant, costing over RM200 million, has officially opened, providing a capacity of 150 million litres per day to serve more than 80,000 domestic, commercial, and industrial users in Seremban, Nilai, and Sendayan. The plant is expected to meet demand for the next 20 years, supporting growth under Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 (MVV2.0). Construction began in April 2022 to supplement the existing Ngoi-Ngoi Phase 1 plant, which is already at full capacity. The facility will help maintain a 15% water reserve margin as required by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN). Alongside the new plant, the state is upgrading infrastructure with Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan (SAINS), including replacing ageing pipes and intensifying leak detection to reduce non-revenue water (NRW). These systematic interventions have gradually lowered NRW over recent years. The state also has long-term plans for phased construction of additional plants, expanded storage capacity, and alternative water sources, including a new source in Port Dickson to meet industrial demand. Despite the dry season, major dams such as Sepri and Sungai Beringin are at full capacity, while others like Sungai Terip, Talang, Gemencheh, and Teriang are above 90%, and Kelinchi Dam supports the system at 68%. |
| 2 Feb, 2026 | Road | The government has allocated RM350 million under the First Rolling Plan of the 13th Malaysia Plan to upgrade the East–West Highway in Perak (Route FT004), focusing on improving safety, comfort and resilience, with RM170 million earmarked for 17 locations to add overtaking lanes at RM10 million per location, while preliminary works are expected to begin in 2026 and physical implementation targeted thereafter. In addition, about RM40 million has been allocated for maintenance works throughout 2026, covering road surface repairs, installation of safety facilities and lighting improvements, to be carried out by the Public Works Department and concessionaire Belati Wangsa Sdn Bhd along the Perak stretch of the highway. |
| 29 Jan, 2026 | Rail Transport | Malaysia plans to revive the railway link from Rantau Panjang to Sungai Golok, Thailand, by rehabilitating the Pasir Mas–Rantau Panjang alignment to allow Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) services to operate to the border. The project, included in the 13th Malaysia Plan under Rolling Plan 1 for 2026 with a total cost of RM264 million, is at the tender documentation stage and will be implemented by the Railway Assets Corporation, with an expected two-year construction period. Malaysia welcomes Thailand’s interest in extending its rail network to Rantau Panjang, though discussions were delayed by political changes in Thailand |
| 28 Jan, 2026 | Road | A new road access will be built through the 4.3-kilometre Semenyih Bypass, creating a direct four-lane connection between Jalan Sungai Lalang and the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK Highway). This new access is designed to provide a more seamless entry and exit point for Semenyih and surrounding areas, reducing reliance on existing congested routes while improving connectivity to Kajang and the wider Klang Valley. The project has moved forward following confirmation that all Malay Reserve Land affected by the bypass will be fully replaced, providing regulatory clarity and paving the way for developments along the corridor, including Anyara Hills by KHK Land, to benefit from enhanced road accessibility. |
| 27 Jan, 2026 | Electricity | Rancha Power Sdn Bhd has broken ground on a 120-megawatt gas-fired power plant in Labuan’s Rancha-Rancha Industrial Estate to strengthen the island’s electricity capacity and ensure a reliable supply. The plant, located about two kilometres from the existing Stesen Janakuasa Patau-Patau set to cease operations by Dec 31, 2027, is designed for flexible generation with an adequate reserve margin to meet residential, commercial, and industrial demand. The project is a joint venture between PG Energia Sdn Bhd, SEC Power Sdn Bhd, and Sustainable Power Sdn Bhd. Construction will start in February 2026, with commercial operations scheduled for Jan 1, 2028. |
| 22 Jan, 2026 | Highway | Mah Sing Group Bhd has opened a new RM70 million ingress and egress ramp and toll plaza to Bestari Perdana along the Senai-Desaru Expressway, forming part of the 5.1km Pasir Gudang Connector that links the expressway directly to Jalan Kong Kong and Tanjung Langsat. |
| 6 Jan, 2026 | Highway | The West Coast Expressway (WCE) in Johor is planned with 13 interchanges along its 153.3-kilometre route, with seven prioritized for initial construction, including Sungai Terap in Muar, Parit Sulong in Batu Pahat, and Pekan Nanas in Pontian. The proposed interchanges in Johor are Sungai Mati, Sungai Terap, Bukit Bakri, Parit Sulong, Tongkang Pecah, Sri Gading, Senggarang, Benut, Ayer Baloi, Pontian, Parit Haji Wahab, Pekan Nanas, and Nusajaya. The highway will connect Banting, Selangor, through Negeri Sembilan and Melaka to the Second Link Highway in Gelang Patah, offering motorists a faster alternative and diverting about 27% of traffic, or roughly 35,000 vehicles daily, from the North-South Expressway. |
| 16 Dec, 2025 | Public Transport | The Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) will move its hydrogen plant and refuelling station from Bintawa to the ART Depot in Rembus, Kota Samarahan, under a RM58 million contract with Linde EOX Sdn Bhd, set to finish by late 2026. The plant will produce one tonne of green hydrogen to power zero-emission ART vehicles on dedicated, mostly at-grade, trackless lanes across three Phase 1 lines: Blue Line (Rembus to Hikmah Exchange), Red Line (Kuching Sentral to Pending), and Green Line (Pending to Damai). Hydrogen-powered feeder buses will provide first- and last-mile connectivity, supporting Sarawak’s push for cleaner public transport. |
| 16 Dec, 2025 | Industrial Park | Negeri Sembilan is building the Nilai Advanced Photonic AI Manufacturing City, the world’s first large-scale photonic computing and semiconductor hub. The project is a collaboration between the US-based Hosein Family Office, which brings 30 years of semiconductor expertise, and Malaysia’s Gan Family Office, which is providing 1,214 hectares of land. The US$20 billion (RM81.7 billion) project over five years will include factories for photonic chipsets and AI systems, a national AI research centre, a deep-tech training academy, and an integrated township. It is expected to create 60,000 jobs and will use photonic computing, where data travels with light instead of electricity, making it faster, cooler, and more energy-efficient, positioning Malaysia as a leader in next-generation semiconductors in Southeast Asia. |
| 12 Dec, 2025 | Urban Development | MCMC is providing RM310 million to build digital infrastructure for the Melaka Smart City project, helping the state become a digital heritage city under the Smart Melaka 2035 plan. The initiative, formalised through an MOU with the Melaka government, will include fibre-optic networks, smart poles, public WiFi, traffic and safety management systems, heritage tourism tools, and flood monitoring using IoT. The project aims to improve internet access across the state, support local businesses, and enable better digital public services. |
